Concept for Project 3: Sense of Place
My targeted site is either at parks/lawns at UNSW (examples: Library Lawn, Quadrangle Lawn, etc) or UNSW main library. I find that a lot of UNSW students would hang out at parks for lunch, chit chatting or to revise their studies especially at Quadrangle Lawn where most of them would lean against the pillars surrounding the lawn or sit on the lawn in groups. I'm not quite sure whether these stools would be suitable for parks or not or other possible areas.
This stool is designed in a way that it can be seated in 3 different ways. A person can choose to sit on the stool whichever way he/she likes and can also lean against the back of the stool. This stool has the potential to create a communal space for groups and loners.
These stools could be useful for students at schools, universities, libraries and parks because the stools can be arranged to form a circular arrangement as the sides and edges of the stool are angled. Students can use these stools to have group meetings, discussions, speeches/presentations,chat, etc for better communication with others socially and psychologically. Users can also arranged the stools creatively whichever way they like.
